The Dingolfing facility has become BMW’s largest production hub for electric vehicles, currently producing models including the BMW iX, BMW i5 and BMW i7.

BMW says more than 320,000 all-electric vehicles have already been built at the plant since EV production began there in 2021 with the BMW iX. In 2025 alone, more than a quarter of all vehicles produced at Dingolfing were fully electric.

Growing competition in the EV space

The milestone reflects the growing pace of EV adoption globally, with traditional luxury brands accelerating their transition towards electrified line-ups.

Rivals including Mercedes-Benz and Audi have also expanded their EV offerings in recent years, while Tesla continues to dominate the global electric vehicle market.

BMW’s electric line-up in Australia currently includes models such as the BMW i4, i5, iX1, iX2, iX and i7, with the brand expected to further expand its EV portfolio over the coming years.
