Denza, which is a wholly-owned luxury brand of BYD, has recently stated the pure-electric range of its new-generation Denza N8 as 1,003km CLTC in the regulatory filings in China.
The newly globally launched N8 has not yet been confirmed for Australian sale, but it could become one of the next models in Denza’s local range and can compete with the large electric SUVs here like the BYD Tang, Kia EV9 GT-Line, Volvo EX90, and Hyundai Ioniq 9.
Denza N8
More than 1000km of electric range
The Denza N8 will use either a 130.15kWh or 105.792kWh battery, and depending on the battery and configuration, the N8 records claimed CLTC pure-electric ranges of:
- 1,003km
- 970km
- 840km
- 800km
The N8L uses the 130.15kWh battery and delivers a claimed 960km CLTC pure-electric range, which puts the range close to the total driving range previously associated with its plug-in hybrid version.
The previous pure-electric Denza N8 generation, launched globally in 2023, had a battery capacity of 108.8kWh and offered up to 736km of CLTC range, and the plug-in hybrid version offered a claimed 1,030km combined range.

Two body sizes and the design
The new-generation Denza N8 comes in two body sizes: the N8 and the six-seater sibling, the N8L. The N8 and N8L share a 3,075mm wheelbase, but the Denza N8L stretches the body further by 50mm.

The new models retain the current generation’s overall design language, and it’s easy to recognise the model with the slim parallel taillights and a prominent Denza logo at the rear.
The next-generation Denza N8 sits on a monocoque platform, which contrasts with Denza’s Australian-delivered Denza B5 and B8 SUVs, which are heavy, traditional body-on-frame off-roaders and point to N8’s local launch as a premium SUV if it happens at all.

Denza N8 power output
The N8 will offer generous powertrain configurations. The rear-wheel-drive single-motor version comes in two power outputs: 320kW and 370kW.
The range also includes a three-motor all-wheel-drive system which uses:
- One front motor producing 270kW
- Two rear motors producing 310kW each
- Combined output of 890kW
Could the Denza N8 come to Australia?
Denza has set an ambitious target of expanding its Australian range to five models by the end of 2026. The brand launched the D9 people mover locally in late 2025; the upcoming Z9GT grand tourer will take another position in the line-up, and the N8 could become one of the remaining models.
Denza is gaining ground globally
Denza’s global sales have continued to climb, and it has exceeded 20,000 monthly sales for the first time in June 2026. It recorded 19,196 sales in July, down 5.7% month-on-month but up 68.8% year-on-year.
Denza entered Australia in late 2025 and by late July 2026, the brand had reached 2,693 new-vehicle sales.
The Denza B5, which targets the Toyota Prado segment, has driven much of that volume, and the larger Denza B8, which competes with the LandCruiser 300, also recorded a strong result, for instance, reaching 296 sales in May alone.
