Key highlights:
- Geely’s new station delivers up to 2.25MW per connector
- Lynk & Co 10 reached 1093kW peak charging intake
- Geely E5 and Battleship 700 SUVs will get this capability first
Geely claims it has achieved the EV industry’s fastest production-ready charging performance, with a new system capable of delivering up to 2.25MW from a single charging connector. Geely Auto Group officially launched its next-generation AI-powered Smart Charging technology at its Ningbo facility in China on September 23, 2026.
The system directly challenges BYD’s ultra-fast charging technology, which previously held the single-connector power record at 1.5MW. The company confirmed that the first production cars to support the new AI Smart Charging system include the Geely E5 electric SUV and the rugged Geely Battleship 700/Cruiser 700.
Geely claims three charging records

Geely’s new charging system claims three breakthroughs. The fifth-generation Geely Smart Charging Station can deliver up to 2250kW from a single charging gun, which is 50% more than BYD’s previous 1500kW Flash Charging 2.0 record.
| Geely’s claim | Result |
|---|---|
| Peak output from one charging gun | 2250kW or 2.25MW |
| Peak vehicle charging intake | 1093kW or 1.09MW |
| 10-70% charging | 4 minutes 30 seconds |
| 10-97% charging | 8 minutes 40 seconds |
Geely also claims the highest real-world charging speed achieved by a production-ready vehicle. During certified real-world testing overseen by the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC), a Lynk & Co 10 drew a peak 1093kW directly into its battery pack.
The third breakthrough combines the entire charging system into one thermal-management loop. Geely says the system simultaneously manages five major heat sources: the grid storage battery, charging station pile, charging cable, vehicle charging port and onboard battery cells.
4.5 minutes to reach 70 per cent

Geely says testing with the Zeekr 001 sedan and Lynk & Co 10 delivered a 10-70% charge in just 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and the vehicles reached 97% in 8 minutes and 40 seconds.
The charging hardware combines the fifth-generation Smart Charging Station with Geely’s Shendun Golden Battery, which supports a 12C peak charging rate, and its next-generation Ultra Short Blade Battery.

AI manages the heat
Multi-megawatt charging creates extreme heat, which can normally affect battery life, but Geely says its AI technology tackles this through predictive thermal control.
The system uses Geely’s Xingrui PowerMind AI model to predict battery temperatures 30 seconds ahead and adjust charging power dynamically. Geely says this keeps the average temperature below 55°C.
A five-point liquid-cooling system then manages heat across the complete charging chain, from the station’s energy storage through to the cable, charging port and battery pack.
The system also uses micro-pulse currents in a process Geely calls Pulse Restoration, and the company claims these micro-pulses can reverse fast-charging degradation and extend battery cycle life by 20%.
Which Geely models support it?

Geely says the first production vehicles in mainland China to actively unlock and support the new AI Smart Charging system are:
- Geely E5 electric SUV
- Geely Battleship 700, also known as the Cruiser 700
The technology is initially exclusive to mainland China, and that’s because the claimed 4.5-minute charging time requires Geely’s newly deployed fifth-generation 2250kW public charging stations. Geely is initially rolling out these stations across China through its Haohan network.
Australia is a long shot for this charging system
Geely has not confirmed the 2.25MW charging technology for Australia. Geely Auto Australia is preparing a major product offensive, with local 2027 releases locked in for the Battleship 700, Monjaro and Emgrand L.
However, these upcoming Australian models are primarily plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) or standard 400-volt battery-electric vehicles such as the current Geely EX5. Even if vehicles arrived with the 12C-capable hardware, Australia’s charging infrastructure remains a major limitation.
The fastest public DC fast chargers currently deployed across Australia top out at about 350kW to 400kW.
Geely now moves ahead of BYD in China
BYD is also pursuing multi-megawatt charging, including plans to bring its top-tier technology to Australia through its luxury Denza brand. However, Geely’s latest Chinese system now exceeds BYD’s current 1.5MW peak station output.
| Feature | BYD Flash Charging | Geely AI Smart Charging |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum power | 1500kW | 2250kW |
| 10-70% charge | ~5 minutes | 4 minutes 30 seconds |
| 10-97% charge | ~9 minutes | 8 minutes 40 seconds |
BYD’s luxury sub-brand Denza plans to deploy proprietary 1500kW Flash Chargers at selected flagship Australian showrooms, and these chargers will only support upcoming high-end models such as the tri-motor Denza Z9 GT luxury wagon.
