Subaru Australia’s all-new Crosstrek Sport special edition arrives in showrooms; it extends the small SUV range and comes with a unique visual makeover without any mechanical changes.

The new variant costs $43,990 before on-road costs, which makes it $3,000 more than its base model, the Crosstrek 2.0R, while matching the price of the flagship non-hybrid Crosstrek 2.0S.

The Crosstrek Sport follows the limited-run Crosstrek Onyx, which Subaru announced in August 2025.

The new Sport variant can rival the Toyota Corolla Cross Atmos AWD, Mazda CX-30 G25 Touring AWD, Hyundai Kona N Line AWD, Kia Seltos GT-Line AWD, and GWM Haval Jolion Ultra Hybrid on the road.

Price and release date of the Crosstrek Sport

The updated 2026 Subaru Crosstrek range launched in January and brought enhanced active-safety technology and revised exterior colours. The company then added a special AWD Sport limited edition in June 2026, and it has now arrived in the showrooms.

The current range includes five core variants, with customers able to choose between 2.0-litre petrol and mild-hybrid e-Boxer powertrains. The AWD 2.0L variant is currently being offered at a discounted $38,990 drive-away until October 31, 2026.

VariantPrice (before on-roads)
2026 Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0L$36,490
2026 Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0R$40,990
2026 Subaru Crosstrek Sport AWD$43,990
2026 Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0S$43,990
2026 Subaru Crosstrek AWD Hybrid L$40,090
2026 Subaru Crosstrek AWD Hybrid S$47,590

No changes under the hood

The symmetrical all-wheel drive Sport Edition uses the same naturally aspirated 2.0-litre Boxer four-cylinder engine as the rest of the non-hybrid Crosstrek range with CVT, which produces 115kW / 196Nm.

The Crosstrek also retains its 220mm ground clearance and X-Mode system, which makes it handle light weekend adventures.

Exterior gold details set the Sport apart

Subaru has focused on appearance and equipment rather than mechanical upgrades in this Sport special edition. The unique exterior features include:

  • 18-inch dark-metallic alloy wheels
  • Electric sunroof
  • Gold accents on the front fog-light bezels
  • Gloss-black trim on the tailgate and rear roof spoiler
  • Sport badge on the tailgate

The Sport comes in white, silver, grey and black, with none of those colours at no extra cost. Its styling carries some cues that resemble Subaru’s Wilderness models, but it’s still not an off-road-focused variant.

In addition to the above differentiating features, the Crosstrek Sport edition gets the same standard exterior equipment as Crosstrek 2.0R, such as:

  • Steering-responsive automatic LED headlights
  • LED front fog lights
  • Rain-sensing wipers

Interior features and tech equipment

The biggest interior change comes from the seats, as the Crosstrek Sport uses unique grey tricot cloth upholstery with gold accents and contrast stitching, which also extends to the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Subaru has added satellite navigation, which otherwise remains exclusive to the top-spec 2.0S and Hybrid S. Here are the standard features that it shares with the Crosstrek 2.0R:

  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Leather-wrapped gear selector
  • Eight-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment
  • Two-position driver’s seat memory
  • Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
  • Heated front seats
  • Premium instrument cluster
  • 4.2-inch multi-information display
  • 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Six-speaker sound system
  • X-Mode with two modes
  • Space-saver spare wheel
  • Sports pedals

The Crosstrek is a core part of the Japanese brand’s presence here and sits second in Subaru Australia’s sales rankings so far in 2026; only the Forester sits ahead of it. But both models have recorded lower sales Year-on-Year in 2026 so far.
