Key highlights
- The Countryman Untamed Edition will arrive in Australia in early 2027 with S All4 petrol and SE All4 electric powertrains.
- Australian cars will miss the 15mm suspension lift, Pirelli all-terrain tyres and Autohome roof tent available in other markets.
- Towing capacity remains at 1500kg for the S All4 and 1200kg for the SE All4 in Australia.
Mini has confirmed the Countryman Untamed Edition for Australia, giving buyers a more outdoors-focused version of its small SUV from early 2027. There is a catch, though. While the Untamed Edition has been developed with genuine off-road upgrades for some international markets, Australian cars will miss several of the features that make this version more capable away from sealed roads.
The Australian-specification Countryman Untamed Edition will be available with the petrol-powered S All4 and electric SE All4. Both use all-wheel drive, which makes them the more appropriate starting points for the rugged-looking special edition. Australian pricing has not yet been announced.

No suspension lift or all-terrain tyres for Australia

The biggest difference is underneath the car. In the US and Canada, the Countryman Untamed Edition gets a 15mm suspension lift, increasing ground clearance by 19mm overall. Europe offers the lift only on electric versions. That upgrade will not be available on Australian cars. The same applies to the specially developed Pirelli Scorpion all-terrain tyres. They are standard on Untamed Edition models in North America and optional in Europe, but Australian versions will miss out.
The changes are more than cosmetic in markets where they are offered. Mini says the suspension and tyres are accompanied by recalibrated ABS, stability control and steering systems, while the increased ride height improves the Countryman’s approach and breakover angles. In other words, the Australian Untamed Edition will look more adventurous without receiving the full set of mechanical changes developed for rougher driving.
Towing remains unchanged
The differences also extend to towing. Mini says the Untamed Edition can be fitted with a tow bar and is rated for up to 2.0 tonnes in some markets. However, Australian versions will retain their existing towing capacities. The petrol Countryman S All4 will be rated to tow up to 1500kg braked, while the electric SE All4 will retain its 1200kg braked rating.
That is worth noting for Australian buyers considering the Untamed as a camping or touring vehicle. Despite its adventure-focused styling and available accessories, it will not gain a higher towing limit locally. Mini has also developed an Autohome roof-top tent and camping equipment with Helinox for the Untamed Edition. The roof tent is among the equipment that will not be offered with Australian cars.
What does the Australian Untamed Edition get?

There is still plenty to distinguish the Untamed from a regular Countryman. It gets a Dark Steel grille with vertical inserts, unique underbody protection, side sills and rear diffuser, plus matte-black exterior detailing around the wheel arches, side sills and bonnet. New 19-inch alloy wheels are inspired by traditional off-road steel wheels, while exclusive colours include Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and Frozen Nomad Blue. The latter is a matte finish, marking the first matte exterior paint offered on a series-production Mini.
Inside, the Untamed Edition gets Nightshade Blue sports seats with knitted sections inspired by rock formations, along with Cornflower Blue stitching and trim. Dark Steel replaces the usual silver interior accents, while rubber floor mats add a more practical touch. For Australian buyers, then, the Untamed Edition is shaping up as a tougher-looking Countryman rather than a genuinely more capable off-road version. The first Australian examples are due in early 2027, with pricing and further local specifications still to be confirmed.
