BMW has revealed the Vision BMW Alpina concept at the 2026 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, Italy, giving the clearest indication yet of what the future of the Alpina brand will look like under BMW Group ownership.
Instead of prioritising outright track performance, the concept continues Alpina’s long-standing philosophy of combining high-speed capability, long-distance comfort, luxury refinement, and everyday usability.
BMW integrated Alpina into the BMW Group in 2026, positioning the brand between mainstream BMW models and ultra-luxury Rolls-Royce vehicles. According to BMW, the first production BMW Alpina model will arrive next year in 2027 and will be based on the BMW 7 Series.
The latest Alpina car launched in Australia is the ultra-exclusive BMW Alpina XB7 Manufaktur (based on the 3-row BMW X7), backed locally by Alpina Automobiles Australia.
Large luxury grand tourer proportions
The Vision BMW Alpina Concept is a large four-seat luxury GT coupe measuring 5,200mm long. Its design focuses on long-distance touring comfort, high-speed stability, and spacious cabin packaging.
BMW says the car has been designed to comfortably carry four adults while maintaining the sporty proportions expected from an Alpina model.
V8 power remains central to the Alpina identity
Unlike many new luxury concepts focused purely on electrification, the Vision BMW Alpina continues to use a V8 powertrain. BMW confirmed the V8 has been tuned to deliver Alpina’s traditional driving character, including smooth low-speed refinement, strong high-speed performance, and distinctive Alpina exhaust sound.
No power or performance figures have been released yet.
Vision BMW Alpina exterior features
The concept introduces several modernised Alpina styling elements without dramatically changing the brand’s core identity. Its key exterior highlights include:
- Large BMW “shark nose” front design inspired by the iconic 1970s Alpina B7 Coupe

- Signature Alpina pinstripes or “Deco-lines,” placed under the clear paint on the side
- Large staggered wheels:
- 22-inch front wheels
- 23-inch rear wheels
The classic 20-spoke Alpina wheel design also returns, continuing a styling theme the brand has used since 1971.
