A 500kW electric wagon is a serious proposition, and that’s exactly what Zeekr is preparing to bring to Australia with its new 7GT. The electric performance wagon is expected to arrive with three variants, giving buyers a choice between an entry-level model, a rear-wheel-drive Long Range and a range-topping all-wheel-drive version.

While the European 7GT produces up to 475kW, the Australian flagship is set to get 500kW, making it even more powerful than the version sold overseas. Australian pricing and final specifications are still to be confirmed, but the 7GT could arrive in local showrooms by late 2026 or early 2027.

Two battery sizes are expected

You’ll have two battery options to choose from, depending on which version you go for. The entry-level 7GT is expected to use a 75kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 519km.

Step up to either of the two higher grades and you’ll get a larger 100kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive Long Range is rated at up to 655km of WLTP range overseas, while the performance version is rated at 558km.

Keep in mind those figures are based on the European versions, so Australian specifications could be different. The 7GT also uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, which is good news if you don’t want to spend too long plugged into a fast charger.

Zeekr says the larger battery can go from 10 to 80 per cent in around 15 minutes when connected to a charger capable of supplying up to 450kW.

You won’t necessarily see those charging speeds everywhere in Australia, though. Public chargers here currently reach up to around 400kW, while plenty of fast chargers operate at 150kW or less.

500kW means serious performance

Zeekr 7GT Electric Wagon Coming to Australia

The Zeeker 7GT isn’t just about looking sporty. In Europe, the rear-wheel-drive version produces 310kW and 440Nm, allowing it to sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds. The current flagship produces 475kW and 710Nm and can complete the same run in just 3.3 seconds.

For Australia, Zeekr is increasing the flagship’s output to 500kW.

We don’t yet know whether that extra power will make the Australian car quicker to 100km/h, but it’s certainly enough to put the 7GT firmly into performance-car territory.

And if you’re worried that all this power means the 7GT will sacrifice handling, Zeekr has fitted the wagon with double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear setup.

It is still a wagon, after all

The biggest appeal of the 7GT could be that it doesn’t force you to choose between performance and practicality. There’s around 456 litres of luggage space at the rear, along with a powered tailgate. Rear-wheel-drive versions also get an additional 65 litres of storage space.

That makes it a potentially interesting alternative if you want an EV with plenty of performance but don’t particularly want another SUV.

The 7GT could also benefit from Zeekr’s positioning of the model overseas. In Germany, the wagon sits just below the Zeekr 7X SUV in price. The 7X is already available in Australia, starting at $57,900 before on-road costs. Since, the Australian pricing for the 7GT hasn’t been announced yet, so it’s too early to say exactly where it will sit locally.

When is the Zeekr 7GT coming to Australia?

Zeekr hasn’t confirmed an Australian launch date yet, but the 7GT is expected to reach local showrooms by late 2026 or early 2027.

If that timing holds, you’ll soon have another option if you’re shopping for an electric performance car but want something more practical than a traditional sports sedan.

With 500kW, all-wheel drive, a 100kWh battery and three variants expected, the Zeeker 7GT could be one of the more unusual EVs to hit Australia’s market.
