Key highlights:
- Zeekr’s new 7X RWD LFP variant gets a 370kW rear motor
- MIIT has not confirmed the planned 85kWh battery capacity
- Australian arrival remains likely, but Zeekr has not confirmed the variant
Zeekr has cleared a new LFP-powered 7X through China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and the filing confirms a 370kW rear-wheel drive and several key hardware details, while the battery capacity and official range remain unconfirmed.
The approval lines up with Zeekr’s earlier announcement of an 85kWh Golden Brick LFP battery variant planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
So the official filing confirms the new 7X’s LFP chemistry, 370kW rear motor, dimensions, optional equipment and five-seat configuration but leaves many other specifications unconfirmed.

New LFP hardware gets approved
The new five-seat 7X uses a TZ230XYC04 permanent-magnet synchronous motor built by Quzhou Jidian Electric Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd. Its rear-mounted motor produces 370kW and it also receives a factory-installed Event Data Recorder (EDR).

|---|---|
| LFP Battery capacity | TBC |
| Drive type | Single motor RWD |

The certified dimensions and motor output match the existing rear-wheel-drive Zeekr 7X.

The filing also lists several optional configurations, including front four-piston fixed brake callipers, brake-calliper combinations, and varying wheel sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

Buyers can also choose different bumpers, dual-tone roofs, roof racks, roof-mounted LiDAR housings, rear hatches, exterior badges, B-pillar identification and exterior mirrors.
An ETC onboard device also appears as an option.
Zeekr also lists multiple cosmetic and equipment configurations through the MIIT filing, giving the new variant several possible exterior combinations.
The 85kWh battery remains unconfirmed
The planned 85kWh Golden Brick battery previously formed part of reports about the 2027 model-year Zeekr 7X; however, the initial MIIT homologation document does not state the battery’s capacity.
It also leaves several important figures unpublished, such as the driving range, energy consumption, charging specifications, kerb weight, etc.

Where the new version sits in the 7X range
The current 7X range includes a 75kWh LFP version and a larger 103kWh ternary-battery version.
The existing 75kWh LFP model delivers up to 620km of CLTC range, which works out to approximately 520km WLTP. The 103kWh ternary version reaches 802km CLTC in single-motor form and 715km CLTC with all-wheel drive.
The WLTP figures in these comparisons represent editorial estimates because Zeekr does not publish official WLTP ratings for these China-market configurations.
| Specification | Existing LFP | Existing ternary | Existing ternary | 2027 7X variant |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Battery | 75kWh | 103kWh | 103kWh | 85kWh* |
| Drive type | Rear-wheel drive | Rear-wheel drive | All-wheel drive | Rear-wheel drive |
| Power output | 370kW | 370kW | 585kW | 370kW |
| Range (CLTC) | 605km | 802km | 715km | TBC |
*The 85kWh capacity was previously reported for the planned variant but does not appear in the initial MIIT filing.
That puts the planned pack between the two existing battery capacities, although Zeekr has yet to publish its certified efficiency and range figures.

200,000 7X production milestone
The Zeekr 7X has now reached 200,000 units produced globally, and the current 7X sells in China for between 229,800 yuan (A$47,800) and 269,800 yuan (A$56,000).
The 7X also recorded a strong monthly sales recovery in China, and according to China EV DataTracker the model’s domestic retail registrations reached 6,415 units in July 2026.
That represented an 87.1% month-on-month increase from June’s 3,429 units and a 12.4% year-on-year rise.
The 7X recorded 3,344 units in May, making July’s result a significant rebound after several months of lower sales.
Is the updated Zeekr 7X coming to Australia?
The updated 2027 Zeekr 7X has a strong chance of reaching Australia, but buyers will likely wait longer.
Zeekr Australia previously committed to a strict 12-to-18-month timeline without local model changes to protect early buyers, and based on that approach, the latest upgrades are not expected to reach Australian showrooms until around mid-2027 or potentially late 2027.
China continues to receive rapid, iterative updates, leaving Australian-delivered vehicles around one to two update cycles behind the domestic Chinese market.
Zeekr Australia also has other new models competing for local attention, including the upcoming 7GT electric wagon and the larger 9X SUV, both scheduled for early 2027.
