Subaru Australia has officially unveiled the all-new Subaru Trailseeker, a fully electric SUV that expands the brand’s growing battery-electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio. Positioned above the Solterra and alongside the newly revealed Uncharted, the Trailseeker becomes Subaru’s largest and most capable electric SUV for Australian buyers.

The new model also sets a significant milestone for the brand. With 280kW of combined output and a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of approximately 4.5 seconds, the Trailseeker is the fastest production Subaru ever offered in Australia.

Designed to blend long-distance touring, family practicality, and Subaru’s traditional all-wheel-drive credentials, the Trailseeker enters an increasingly competitive electric SUV segment populated by rivals such as the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV5, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Up to 533km driving range

Subaru Trailseeker Australia

Powering the Subaru Trailseeker is a 74.7kWh CATL lithium-ion battery pack paired with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.

Subaru claims the electric SUV can travel up to 533km on the WLTP testing cycle, placing it among the longer-range electric SUVs available in Australia. When it’s time to recharge, the Trailseeker supports DC fast charging at up to 150kW, allowing a 10-80 per cent charge in around 30 minutes under ideal conditions.

The combination of strong range figures and rapid charging capability aims to make the Trailseeker suitable for both urban commuting and longer regional journeys.

Subaru’s fastest production vehicle ever

While Subaru has built its reputation on rally-inspired performance and all-wheel-drive confidence, the Trailseeker brings a new level of straight-line speed to the brand.

Its dual-motor setup produces a combined 280kW, enabling a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of approximately 4.5 seconds. That makes it quicker than any Subaru previously sold in Australia, including high-performance WRX variants.

However, Subaru says the Trailseeker’s focus extends beyond outright performance. The company has engineered the SUV to deliver predictable handling and confident traction across a variety of surfaces.

Built for Australian adventures

A key selling point of the Trailseeker is its ability to retain Subaru’s traditional off-road capability despite transitioning to an electric platform.

The SUV rides on Subaru’s e-Subaru Global Platform and comes standard with:

  • Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive
  • Dual-Mode X-Mode
  • Grip Control
  • Driving Trajectory Prediction Control
  • 211mm ground clearance

Those figures place the Trailseeker among the more adventure-focused electric SUVs currently available, offering greater ground clearance than many mainstream EV rivals.

Subaru says the vehicle’s torque management system can anticipate a driver’s intended path and adjust power delivery accordingly to maintain stability and control on challenging surfaces.

When will the Subaru Trailseeker arrive?

Subaru Trailseeker Australia

Subaru Australia has confirmed the all-new Trailseeker is available to order now, with test drives being offered through Subaru retailers nationwide.

Australian pricing and detailed local specifications are expected to be announced closer to the model’s showroom launch.

Why are we excited about the Trailseeker?

The arrival of the Trailseeker marks a major step in Subaru Australia’s electrification strategy. Together with the Solterra and forthcoming Uncharted, the brand now has electric SUVs spanning multiple size categories.

More importantly, the Trailseeker appears to stay true to Subaru’s traditional strengths, off-road capability, all-wheel-drive confidence, practicality, and safety, while adding the instant performance and efficiency expected from a modern EV.

For Australian buyers seeking an electric SUV that can handle both weekday commuting and weekend adventures, the Trailseeker could become one of Subaru’s most important launches in years.
